Rules
This market resolves to “Yes” if, at any point during the month of January 2026, Donald J. Trump announces or implements new tariffs specifically targeting goods imported from Canada. New tariffs are defined as duties not previously in effect prior to January 2026, whether imposed through executive action, proclamation, or other official U.S. government mechanism. Threats, campaign statements, negotiations, or the continuation or modification of existing tariffs without the introduction of new tariff measures will not qualify. Tariffs applied broadly to multiple countries, including Canada, will count only if Canada is explicitly subject to the new measure. The market resolves to “No” if no such new tariffs targeting Canada are announced or implemented by 23:59 UTC on January 31, 2026. Resolution will be based on official U.S. government announcements and reporting from major national and international news organizations.
