This market resolves to “Yes” if, during the month of January, at least one sitting Member of Parliament who was not elected as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada formally crosses the floor to join the Liberal caucus. A floor crossing is defined as a public and official change in party affiliation by an MP while retaining their seat in the House of Commons. Changes resulting from by-elections, general elections, appointments to cabinet from outside Parliament, expulsions without subsequent Liberal affiliation, or MPs sitting as independents without joining the Liberal caucus will not qualify. An MP who already crossed to the Liberals prior to January will not be counted. The market resolves to “No” if no such floor crossing occurs by 23:59 ET on January 31. Resolution will be based on official statements from the MP or party, parliamentary records, and reporting from major Canadian news organizations.
